Transcription: Notion AI

The idea of working smarter and not harder is something that resonates with everyone. I chose to explore a note taking AI tool this week called Notion AI. Something that can make tasks, especially work tasks, all the easier. Just ask my family doctor, he's the reason my interest was perked with note taking AI.

When my doctor stepped into the room during our last visit, I noticed he didn't have his usual assistant with him. He did have a cell phone in hand and asked if I was okay with him using an AI tool to transcribe our visit. He explained that the tool filters out just random chit-chat such as "how the weather is today," but will take detailed notes and provide him a summary of any pertinent items applicable to our visit as well as catalog the notes. Though he was using a different AI note taking app designed for the medical community that conforms with HIPPA, it still perked my interest to explore something similar such as Notion AI.

This got me thinking of ways to use it. Could it be when a auto repair technician is explaining to me what a vehicle needs? Would it take better notes for my recollection better than me just using chicken scratch with the hope I would remember why I wrote the note later. What about when I'm double scheduled at work and can't make a meeting? What a great opportunity for me to have a colleague utilize the tool and forward me the notes and summary.

What I really like about Notion is that it didn't just automatically perform note-taking, it used a manual start which helped with getting consent from participants. It works with the microphone of whichever piece of tech you are using and can also be integrated into other pages, calendars, and tools.
